The
newest entrant into the Routemaster model arena, SunStar has entered with
a bang. They are producing a series of large 1/24 scale models with a
high degree of precision. Of course, you pay for it as well - the models
will cost almost £100. |

| When
SunStar announced that they were bringing out their 1/24 scale model of
the Routemaster, there was a bit of a false start. The model was announced
via a catalogue but inquiries suggested that the model would never actually
be produced. Fortunately for collectors, the line was launched in late 2004 and the results are spectacular. The first model, the 2901, was based on the original Routemaster (in service - RM8). It is an enormous model, incredibly detailed, and really sets a new standard (despite a few flaws) for the diecast Routemaster community. Although it was speculated that the models would not sell well, each release has sold out quickly and the upcoming releases have similarly generated a lot of excitement. Now, if someone could just address the display needs for such a "supersized" collection... |
